One of the rarest animals in the world washed ashore Sunday on an Outer Banks beach. Though they can't be sure, experts suspect the female North Atlantic right whale succumbed to injuries received when she was struck by a boat.

That's possible. The whale was struck by a boat. Hope we can find effective ways not to happen that again.

Those large merchant vessels don't slow down for fishing vessels with gear in the water. Remember the two scallopers Lady Mary and Dictator? They probably won't slow down for whales either.

To be sure it has to have been more than just a prop job or it wouldn't have done enough damage to kill a 45 footer.
