Ted has been the mentor, protector and benefactor of all the channeling of the resource to large foreign and domestic fishing corporations and fishing companies that will support him.
And he has been able to stack the Council process with folks that support this consolidation by influencing Governors and NOAA Administrators.
His former aides are sent out to further do his dirty work like the Jesuits were sent out by the Pope during the Inquisition.
His influence goes on and on. In the Native community in Alaska Bering Sea
Ted didn't allow the populace of the villages any say whatsoever. The boards just keep appointing friends. And they keep the money, invest it poorly, etc. And these boards then tell the people to keep voting for Ted.
The insidiousness of it all is beyond belief. The family subsistence fishermen and the family commercial fishermen keep seeing less and less fish all the time. The big pollock draggers will scoop up immense by-catches of immature salmon beyond counting, tens of millions of pounds of squid and herring and dump it all back over. The only by-catch that get counted and that extremely conservatively is the mature king salmon and chum salmon that stick out like sore thumbs in a mess of pollack.
The East coast couldn't possibly have any of this going on or there wouldn't be a thing left to catch. But the Council system is Ted's doing over the years of doing it to the industry. The little guys don't contribute to his campaigns, but the big ones will, and they are rewarded like Veco. I'm sure the Pacific Fisheries Management Council works the same way as Alaska
